Fiber Laser

A fiber laser uses optical fiber which has been doped with one of any number of rare-earth elements as an active gain medium. Optical feedback is created through the use of fiber Bragg gratings (short segments of optical fiber) rather than through the use of mirrors. These lasers often use semiconductor laser diodes to transfer energy from the external power source to the fiber optics.

The fiber laser is used in many different industries, ranging from telecommunications to medicine. They have a number of advantages over a standard laser device, including higher output, higher optical quality and compact size, just to name a few. These advantages have led to an increasing number of industries adopting this technology.

The manufacturing industry has made great use of the fiber laser. They are commonly employed for etching and engraving procedures. They can also be used for both cutting and welding metal and metal alloys.
